Have u ever had a question what is actually cholesterol about?.We hear this term a lot "Somebody is having high cholestrol" and some are not after done with "Lipid profile test".
Basically Cholesterol is fat like substance found in walls of cells.
Lets talk in simple terms.
Cholesterol is totally not a bad substance. Its present in every cell. Its required by body for many good functionalities
1. For bile juice production,(digestion)
2. for making hormones,vitamin D etc.
Liver organ produces the Cholesterol. The Cholesterol quantity required by body is produced in our body itself. But the problem is its also present on out food. that's where the tragedy is!..
Since cholesterol can't travel alone in blood stream,Its carried by lipo-proteins.here 2 big guy comes.
1. LDL
2.HDL.
LDL is low-density lipo protein. Its supplies cholesterol to tissues and arteries. This is bad because if it is excess,It gets deposited heavily on wall of artery cell which may lead to heart attack.
HDL is removes harmful LDL from where it doesn't belong. It brings back the LDL to liver for reusing it.
So now 2 possibilites are very dangerous.
1. High LDL
2. Low HDL.
what makes LDL become high?
Many reasons,
1.Diet that increases LDL
those are
1.Saturated fat that comes from animals,
2.Trans fat from hydrogenated oils,
3. Cholesterol from animal products.
2. Overweight.
Overweight increases the triglycerides which increases LDL.
What makes HDL become low?
1.Smoking is one reason which decreases the HDL.
Cholesterol Levels
How to control?
Weight management + healthy diet
I healthy diet, we can think of 2 options.
Diet that doesn't contain cholesterol
Diet that dissolves the current cholesterol present in body.
Supplemets that help
CH balance - it has Grean tea extract (cathechins and theaflavins ) helps reduce body fat and makes cholesterol not absorbed by GI track.
Omega3 - helps in burning fat i.e dissolving platelets from arteries.
